Greek Independence Day Flag Raising Ceremony - Downtown Chicago

Greek Independence Day Flag Raising Ceremony - Downtown Chicago
Tues Mar 24

In honor of Greek Independence Day, the city of Chicago and ENOSIS Group, a Chicago Hellenic-American organization, welcome everyone for the annual raising of the Greek flag.

Sanctioned by the city, this festive ceremony will take place at The Richard J. Daley Center near the flag poles and Picasso sculpture.

The national anthem of Greece will be sung by Mariana Veneri as the honorable Ekaterina Demakis, Consul General of Greece in Chicago, raises the Greek flag.

Dignitaries will then lay wreaths at the eternal flame and observe a moment of silence to honor both Greek and American Freedom Fighters.

During the second half of the ceremony, guests are welcome to an indoor stage area with seating that will feature keynote speakers Andrea Darlas of WGN-TV, George Revioliotis J.D., chairman of the 2019 Hellenic Parade and Anastasia Spiridis, President of the Pontian Greek Society of Chicago.

After the event, guests are encouraged to enjoy a great meal in Chicago's Greek town where restaurants are sure to have their Greek pride on full display!
