Vasilopita Celebration at National Hellenic Museum Chicago

Vasilopita Celebration at The National Hellenic Museum in Chicago
Sat Jan 6

The National Hellenic Museum in Chicago welcomes everyone to enjoy its annual Vasilopita Celebration.

A favorite tradition of Greek families, the Vasilopita observance includes the cutting of sweet bread that contains a "lucky coin" baked into the ingredients.

The endearing custom goes back many generations and is still used today to bless people's homes and seek good luck in the new year.

Greek folk songs and New Year's carols will be sung by Eftihia Papageorgiou and Petros Dragoumis.

Music sponsored by The Hellenic American Women's Council.

Free with museum admission.

No registration required.
